Ryan's nature was so intuitive, calm, and compassionate which greatly helped ease my pain.
I would like to thank nurse Ryan Galvez from the GSU Unit at South Meadows Renown. He was most skillful and compassionate, and I deeply appreciated his personal care. Here are several examples of how Ryan exemplified extraordinary care during my hospitalization.
After a week of severe complications due to an allergic reaction to one of my chemo meds, I arrived at the hospital feeling scared to death, where I had to be hospitalized for a week. During that week's stay, I had a 7-hour potassium chloride IV that caused me much burning pain and Ryan stayed the last few minutes that were most difficult for me to get through and provided encouragement. I was very scared and in a lot of pain. Ryan's nature was so intuitive, calm, and compassionate which greatly helped ease my pain.
After this 7 hour infusion, my whole IV had to be switched to a vein in my other arm due to overuse. He was gentle and considerate to avoid causing me any additional undue pain.
Nurse Ryan had to replace a defective catheter that came off and was leaking blood out of the line. I was worried and scared about what had just happened and Ryan came in very calm and confident, which put me at ease, and he was able to resolve the issue quickly.
I was unable to swallow or intake food or water for multiple days causing me to lose weight. Ryan reached out to speech to have them come to see me and aid in my swallow reflex. I was then able to start eating and drinking again which was critical to my recovery.
In summary, I deeply appreciate Ryan's skillful ability to apply his knowledge and expertise, going above and beyond to find practical solutions to address my medical needs which made a meaningful difference in my care, although he had an exhaustive patient load.
