He knows the medications, he knows how to comfort, and he saved my son.
My son came to the ER after a suicide attempt. My Son’s liver, kidneys, and system were not functioning. His blood pressure was low, and he had to have support for his breathing. The Tylenol levels were very high, and he came to 8-Berthiaume ICU because he was in critical condition. He had suffered a stroke, and the paramedics said he had stopped breathing at the scene. My son’s body lay lifeless on the bed, only the tubes in his mouth raising his chest up and down artificially. I could not stand on my feet. My heart was on my hands as I was in fear of losing my son before he could know his full potential and understand that the world is not all hurtful. I could hardly see out of my eyes, blurred with fear and tears. Still, there stood a nurse, careful and thoughtful, counting, checking, looking, watching, thinking, adjusting, listening, explaining, observing, caring, tending, and helping my son. Ryan Sullivan never left his side. He tested and collected, administered, and adjusted into the role of nurse. He followed, directed, asked, thanked, assisted, questioned, instructed, and arranged care for my son. He knows the medications, he knows how to comfort, and he saved my son. How do you thank someone enough, or in the best way, for a gift like that? Thank you is not enough!
