Being a nurse at Bryan, I know that the staff here is the best! So, when my 14-year-old daughter needed surgery, I knew I wanted her to come here for care. I could never have imagined how hard it would be to let go of my RN reigns and trust her care to others as they rolled her through those surgery doors.
Once we were home, my daughter told me that when she woke up in the PACU, she was very scared and in a lot of pain. She told me that her nurse was very kind. She gave her medicine for pain and warm blankets. She said, "I asked her to hold my hand and she did. She didn't let go until she brought me to you." These words brought tears to my eyes as I knew that her nurse was able to comfort her when I could not. I do remember Sandie wheeling her back into the room still holding her hand.
It is my hope that Sandie will know how much her compassionate care of patients in their scariest and most helpless times means to both the patients and their families. Bryan is blessed to have her as part of their team.
