Sandy is wonderful! I have never felt so moved to go out of my way to recognize someone for going above and beyond. Sandy demonstrates unconditional support, acceptance, and patience. Sandy has worked with me for three years and I have previously gone through at least five different detox and rehab programs without making a connection or having any sustained success. The difference this time I think is that she believed in me so that I could believe in me. I was able to focus on myself and establish myself in a new home with a new baby, it was a new beginning. Sandy is a very special person who has made a huge impact on my life and most certainly many others as well. Sandy helped me turn my life around and find a part of myself I thought I had lost. Three years ago, I was homeless and addicted to drugs, and I could not see a way out. I came to the clinic feeling skeptical because I had tried to get help at other facilities and had not had success or positive experiences. Slowly I came to trust my care team, due primarily to Sandy's consistency, patience, firm no-nonsense attitude and absolute belief in me. I have been housed for three years now and have been successful in the suboxone program- I have not used heroin in three years. This is the longest I have been sober since breaking my back in 2008. I have custody of my children and I am able to be a good mom- I couldn't do that when I was using drugs. I am working, and I even started to paint again. If I told Sandy that my recovery was because of her she would just laugh and say, no it is because of me, but I know that I couldn't have done any of this without her believing in me. I will always be grateful to Sandy and the doctors for all of the help they gave me. Sandy is a wonderful nurse and she makes patients believe in themselves when they have nearly given up hope. She gives so selflessly, I want her to know how appreciated she is and what an amazing job she does.
