Sarah is an amazing nurse who handles her job with knowledge, grace, compassion, and a wonderful sense of humor. She talks with families on the phone about parent concerns and patient illnesses. She makes sure they understand the plan for their child and that they have the skills to give the care.
There is one family with a medically complex child whose mom calls almost daily. She leaves lengthy messages. Sarah often has to calm the mom before she can discuss the interventions for the child so that the mom is able to implement them. The mom may call multiple times to understand the plan. Sarah keeps her composure, re-explains and adjusts the plan to something the mom is able to do.
Her support of the mom is key in this medically fragile child receiving the care he needs, and she always maintains a smile!!
