Shannon, you have such a pure heart, and I am so thankful I had the pleasure of having you as my nurse.
The last couple of times I have gone to the ER, I had Shannon as my nurse. I am a first-time mom, and I have been adjusting to some blood pressure meds my OB put me on. I ended up having to take the ambulance to the hospital for the first time ever. I felt so bad for having to ride the ambulance for something so small as high blood pressure. Shannon reassured me that it is always better to be safe and assured me that's what they are there for.
Being a first-time mom brings a lot of extra worry and stress. That night, it was hot in the hospital, and I asked for a gown so I could somewhat cool down; Shannon offered me her fan. I can laugh now because I made a Facebook post asking for help on how to nominate a nurse for this award. Someone from her hospital reached out to me, and I could not remember her name, so I explained to them that my nurse offered me a fan with "Fanny" written on it. She immediately knew who I was talking about.
Shannon was a joy to have, and I am so glad she was able to care for me even though every time she came back into my room, I was stretched out across the hospital bed, snoring. She did not make me feel like I was being "extra." I tested negative for everything, but she said, "I just feel like you have something. You just do not seem like you feel well." I indeed tested positive for COVID 3 days later, and it was horrible, especially while I was pregnant. I just wanted to thank her so much for caring for me and doing all the small things I asked her for, such as the gown and a sprite with ice. Shannon was just so happy to help and care for me.
Shannon, you have such a pure heart, and I am so thankful I had the pleasure of having you as my nurse. You were such a comforting nurse; you knew just the words and jokes to say at the perfect moments. Keep being the awesome nurse you are!
