Sheri Otta was off duty and was returning to the hospital to visit a family member. As she got out of her car she heard a female voice crying for help in a very panic state. Sheri ran to the women's van and found a female in cardiac arrest inside the vehicle. Sheri immediately started chest compression and instructed the family member to drive her and the victim to Sanford's emergency room entrance.
Sheri continued to do chest compression inside the van until the ER staff could assist her and they were able to move the patient from the van to the emergency department. Sheri stayed in the Emergency Department to hear the outcome of her patient.
Sheri showed extraordinary excellence in her response and immediate action in saving this woman's life. The PACU staff is proud to have Sheri as one of our leaders. She is an outstanding role model whether at work at SMC or outside the walls of SMC.
