I have been staying here at the hospital for over a month and during my stay, there have been a few nurses that have truly gone above and beyond. The one I would like to speak about right now is Sidania Stobbs. During my stay here, I have had my ups and downs from being away from my 3-year-old daughter. Sidania was able to not only make me feel more comfortable but also be understanding of my situation.
While in the hospital, Sidania was my nurse a few times and even through a scary situation where I kept having contractions, she was able to explain everything that was happening as well as be there when I needed her. While having those contractions, Sidania was able to sit with me while I had to switch into various positions as well, so I didn't have to go downstairs to the sonographer she was able to have them come to my bedside and complete the exam.
While being on the monitor, I ripped off my bands because I was tired of being on the machine and needed to use the restroom. When Sidania came back to the room to check on me I was absolutely irritated and in a terrible mood. She was not only able to calm me down but also was able to come up with a solution to help the situation from being less straining on me both mentally and physically.
On that very bad day when I felt everything was going wrong, Sidania's compassion and love for her job were very obvious. She didn't handle me like it was her job but like I was her friend and like my feelings mattered. For situations that happened like that, I believe she should be nominated for this award or at least recognized for her commitment to the patients' needs and for going above and beyond when she didn't have to.
