Stacy was amazing the entire time she was my husband's nurse. From the minute she walked into his room that first day, she set us both at ease. G's surgery was more difficult than expected and he spent the prior night in ICU, so I was a bit stressed. Stacy not only took care of G's every need, but she also made sure I was taken care of too. I have a neurological disorder that causes neck pain and she provided me with a pillow to lean against. I know this sounds like a little thing but it gave me the support I needed as I stayed by my husband's side.
Stacy has such a great sense of humor. When G arrived in his room she called him "Trouble Maker" because he went to ICU instead of coming to her first. It made G and I both laugh! I asked how she knew, apparently, his reputation proceeded him (he likes to joke). Well, the name stuck throughout his stay. In fact, he asked her to write it on the board as his "preferred name".
All in all, I felt like Stacy treated us like family. Humor mixed with incredible compassionate care is so important in recovery. Stacy was the perfect nurse for us! She always listened to our concerns. Even though G received great care from all his nurses, we both wished she could have been there for his entire stay. She just always seemed to anticipate our needs including speaking to me as well as my husband. Stacy included me in his care, letting me feel useful. We are so grateful! Thank you, Stacy!"
