As a patient in the hospital, we expect our nurses to listen with patience, explain with compassion and act with confidence and skill. We have always had the best, most consistent support from Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. Good Sam is our hospital. J was at Good Sam because she had a stroke in September. J experienced some chest pains on Sunday morning so the angiogram was postponed to Monday to allow the cardiologist to examine her. When Stephanie checked Monday morning she found the procedure was not scheduled. We knew from prior experiences how hard it is to change a procedure time let alone set one up. Stephanie, of course, could not set up the procedure but our champion did what we thought was impossible. She did whatever it took to get the room scheduled, track down the surgeon (who was performing surgery at another hospital) and schedule him at Good Sam later in the day, and get a cardiologist in to see J. Monday afternoon the angiogram was performed. Stephanie was a great enabler. We feel this was way beyond what should be expected. We celebrate Stephanie!
