We had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie during one of the most difficult times in our lives. My father had been brought to the ER by paramedics after his heart stopped suddenly at home. Stephanie was my father's nurse 2 of the 4 days he was in the ICU. As soon as we met Stephanie and saw her work on my father, it was apparent that clinically she is a very gifted nurse. She kept my father in constant view from her post (leaving only for meal breaks) she was very gentle with my father, speaking to him as she treated him. But what was extraordinary about Stephanie was the care and compassion she showed to our family. Many times I would come back to my father's room and see Stephanie sitting next to my mother comforting her. For two days, she listened intently to my mother's stories of her 61 years with my father.
I am forever grateful to Stephanie for the kindness she showed both my parents during my father's final days. I hope she will remain in the ICU throughout her career.
She is a much-needed blessing to patients and their families.
