My epidural was very strong and I was not able to feel my son coming and the urge to push. Stephanie came rushing in with another nurse because of a large change in his heart rate. You could see the concern in her eyes as she frantically searched to find his heart rate again. After finding it and using a yoga ball to help move things along, he decided he was going to make his entrance into the world right at that moment. Since I had no feeling, I had no idea that he was pushing his way out. She jumped into action to quickly deliver him the rest of the way. She took charge and was telling the other nurses and aids who came into the room what she needed. He was pretty blue when he came out and she got him breathing and crying within seconds. Her instincts were on point and it really showed. After it was all over she mentioned that it was her first time delivering without a doctor! I would have never even guessed! She seemed to be a pro. She was absolutely amazing. After baby and I had our skin to skin time, she got us both all cleaned up and took the time to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. You could see the compassion in her face and hear it in her voice. I will never forget her and the care she provided to me and my son.
