Stephie is compassionate to every patient that I have ever seen her with. She goes to their room to assess their problems, whether personal or medical. She speaks to all of the patients with respect. Everyone has a different problem, and she handles every situation in a calm manner. When she needs help, she always asks the aide, “When you’re not tied up, do you think you could help me?” She always gives you time to finish what you are doing. Before I moved to the unit, I was a float, and I was ready to quit. After meeting Stephie and seeing how she presents herself with staff and patients, I said that I wanted to stay and stick with Stephie. I have seen and learned so much from her. When I did not know a lot about the machines and gadgets, she calmly explained how to use everything. If you forget something, she calmly explains again. In my whole 27 years of working in healthcare, I have never seen a more compassionate, respectful, and trusted person.
Just this week is a great example; a lady was in terrible pain, and she guided her through being scared and in pain. I watched her techniques on how to handle behaviors. Stephie never got upset or lost her cool. Stephie makes sure that her patients are washed and turned and comfortable, just the way I was taught many years ago. Even if the aides are busy and can’t get to tasks, Stephie makes sure that she does them herself.
She is the most caring healthcare worker I have ever met. Stephanie should be a mentor. She is a great teacher and a great asset to the hospital.
