Our little girl was born on January 19th and was almost immediately transferred down to Children's Hospital here with a Coarctation of the Aorta- needing surgery asap. During our stay in the PICU- _____ was one of our main nurses and always went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, explain medical terminology to us, and bring up our spirits. She would go out of her way to get us any phone numbers we needed, direct us to people that could help us with financial questions. She always encouraged us to take care of "us" as that was as important as being there for Emma. She made us feel very comfortable leaving Emma in her arms while we would leave to go eat meals or to get some sleep.

_____ was also very good at letting us help with changing diapers, etc so we could bond with our daughter in those aspects when we were not able to hold her yet.

When our daughter was first transferred down here- I was having a lot of anxiety attacks and was having a hard time dealing with the stress and frightening situation that we were in- worrying for the life of our daughter. Once we met _____- I was much more at ease about the situation. She took the time to really explain her condition to us and every aspect of her treatment. It then became not as frightening for us because we knew what all the machines were and what they did. And after the doctors would make their rounds and talk medical jargon- _____ would break it all down for us after they left and make sure we understood what it all meant.

In our eyes- _____ is more than deserving of this award!! It is the least we can do for her to nominate her for this award!
