I came in to have minor surgery. I met many friends and said "hi" to most of them. As I was being prepped, I saw Susie Rogers pass by, and I called out her name. She was glad to see me, and we talked for a few minutes, and shared greetings. Then, after the doctor put the block in my foot, the nurses from the OR came to get me, and guess who showed up, but Susie. Susie realized that I was having a procedure with local anesthetic and somehow got herself assigned to my room. They got me on the table and started to prep, and Susie stood at my head where Anesthesia would normally stand. Then, to comfort me, Susie put her hand on my left shoulder. Through the entire procedure, Susie's hand never moved off my shoulder.
She talked to me and comforted me through the entire procedure. I do not know if she realized the comfort that she was giving me, just by the presence of her hand on my shoulder, but it was amazing. She has been a good friend for many years, but that day, she extended the healing ministry of Christ by a simple touch that never wavered off of my shoulder. I wanted to let you know that I was very proud of her.
She deserves recognition.
