Tena made a critical save. She likely saved a patient's limb, and possibly a life. She recognized critical limb ischemia in a patient, thanks to her thorough nursing assessment. Because of her awareness and timely notification, this patient was treated appropriately with the correct intervention. Without her persistence, this patient could have easily lost a limb. She knew something was wrong with her patient and insisted that the patient needed to be evaluated by the orthopaedic surgeon urgently. Without Tena, this patient would have had a very different outcome. Tena demonstrated superior clinical knowledge and skill, along with compassion for the well-being of her patient. Tena makes sure all her patients are treated with the best care while in the hospital, and this is a perfect example of such. We are forever indebted to this excellent nurse, Tena.
