I wanted you to know how impressed I was with Teresa Long, the charge nurse in the MAC Unit. She is so professional and on top of things and I am so inspired by her. She is friendly, well organized, and very natural at multi-tasking. When things get busy and the pressure is on, she is always very cool and calm.
A patient was brought from the ER to the Admission Unit on a stretcher and we had no bed for him. The family was very distressed when they were told he would have to return to the ER. Seeing that this news caused some fear and anxiety for them, Teresa said “wait”. She took the orders, looked them over, and found out what floor the patient was to go to when they left Admissions. She called the floor and found that they had a bed that was not released yet. Teresa then got up and accompanied the patient and family to the PCU, ensuring they got in the room and were at ease. I’m sure that her confidence, initiative, and leadership impressed them. I felt great knowing that this family knew that they were important and could trust us with the care of their loved one. I think Teresa handled this situation perfectly.
I am so glad to work with someone who works so hard to make sure our patients our taken care of so well. It is an honor to work with her and I would be very pleased if you placed me to work with her again. I thought you all should be aware of the fantastic job she is doing!
