Teri Ekstrom is an RN in the hematology-oncology clinic and performs her job at an amazing level. Not only does she help coordinate the care for almost every patient in our clinic in her supervisory role, she also continues to provide incredible patient care as well. A recent example was a patient seen in our clinic: a toddler with high-risk leukemia arrived in our clinic quite ill. Teri recognized the severity of his illness and very quickly brought him back to a room, had vitals done and notified me of his status. She made suggestions for his care, and saline and antibiotics were up and running within minutes. He was soon admitted as an inpatient.
I talked with the family over the weekend and they expressed incredible gratitude for her quick clinical assessment, appropriate care and close monitoring during this acute illness. They were very impressed with her clinical management and wanted to make sure I passed along their thanks and praise. As always, Teri has provided great care to our clinic patients and I just wanted to take a moment and highlight the excellent care that was needed and provided in this very acutely ill patient. These are the types of assessment and management skills that we need in our clinic nursing staff and I am reassured in the clinic knowing we can provide this level of care in our practice due to our experienced nursing staff. Teri is a great leader as well as a clinical RN who works hard and dedicates her time here to deliver great care.

Teri is dedicated to the patients, their families at All Children's Hospital. Teri has been described as being a diligent and caring patient advocate.
