He always made me feel comfortable and welcome.
I am a Cedar Mountain Center patient. I came into CMC full of emotions and not knowing what to expect. I was scared, lonely, and in a new environment, and my mental health was very unstable. I was battling drug addiction, depression, anxiety, and PSTD. Nurse Tom was here at the door with a smile on his face welcoming me into the program. He had a positive attitude and was very encouraging. He told me I could do this and to not give up. He explained how the treatment worked and explained the testing that was done and why it was done. His smile never left his face, and his positivity never left. He always made me feel comfortable and welcome. Tom is not just a nurse. He did give me meds and perform nurse duties. In which he took the time to explain each medicine and what it was being used for, and he also used vitamins and herbal supplements, which I thought were wonderful, and they made me feel amazing, but he also taught groups on how to better myself. He used his own personal experiences to show empathy. He taught me tools like forgiveness, kindness, self-care, and compassion. He taught me tools to live a successful life clean and sober and how to care for my physical and mental health. Still, that smile and positivity never left. He is the most compassionate, selfless nurse. He has shared strength and hope. I admire Nurse Tom. He is trustworthy, and no matter what he was doing, he would always stop what he was doing to answer a question—still smiling. Always finding a solution. He has a passion for helping people. I have learned a lot from Nurse Tom, and my physical and mental health are better thanks to Nurse Tom. Due to COVID, I cannot give Tom the hug he deserves, so this is the next best thing. Thank you, Tom, for being so compassionate, loving, and kind. I appreciate you!
