Recently, the Police Department, St. Luke's Security and Behavioral Health Access were dealing with an adult male standing on top of the parking ramp ledge ready to jump. When asked if there was someone he would talk to he said, "Yeah, Tracy on 2East". It was 10:00 pm but they got her home number and called. She answered and immediately said she would talk to him. At this point, he said no, he changed his mind. Two hours later, he decided he did want to, so they called her back. She talked to him for a while, asked him if he was smoking and he said he dropped them. They continued to talk while Security got his cigarettes. They went to hand them to him and as he reached out, they grabbed him. The police said he almost fell off the ledge many times and talking to a nurse he knew seemed to calm him down. She saved his life, but then again, I know she has saved many - without wanting praise or recognition even though she deserves it.
