She felt my fear and tried to assuage and allay it by smiling, holding my hand, her tone of voice, and her kind words.
I was diagnosed with bladder cancer and had to get a cystoscopy. I was afraid, alone, uncertain of what would happen next. Trika greeted me with a smile and told me she was my nurse. I asked if she could stay with me, and she did. She held my hand and prayed with me. There are other nurses who are nice. I appreciate them all. Trika Rose took it more seriously. She felt my fear and tried to assuage and allay it by smiling, holding my hand, her tone of voice, and her kind words. She made me feel like, no matter what the outcome, I was not alone. She reminded me I was strong, a survivor, and one of God's faithful warriors. She saw my love of God and reminded me God loves me, too, so I was going to be able to get through it. Trika was there for every cystoscopy and allowed me to cry on her shoulder from relief and thankfulness. As an MST survivor, the cystoscopy is a traumatic procedure in more ways than one. Maybe that is why her presence and kindness meant even more than I could ever express or thank her for. Trika Rose is a true definition of a kind nurse, a healer, and she helps with every aspect of the patient. I feel humbled and blessed to have her as my nurse.
