Mrs. Allen is our unit lifesaver! Before she became Nurse Manager, the unit was in complete chaos. She has made the unit the best unit to work on. Mrs. Allen is very genuine and understanding. She listens to every concern that we have and tries to fix it. She is fair with every employee and never showing favoritism. She sets a great example and is the best manager I've ever had.
She has made our unit become more like family! We can go to her about anything, it doesn't matter if it's work-related or personal. That says a lot about a manager. Every month she puts together a potluck so that the doctors, nurses, and therapy team can eat lunch and fellowship with each other. We celebrate new hires, birthday's, new babies, and even retirement/going away celebrations. She will find a way to bring us together.
Mrs. Allen always keeps us updated with the latest classes to further or help us. She brings in representatives from universities and works with our school schedules. We have a stoplight report that tells us what we have completed as a unit, what's in progress and what we can't complete and why. Every decision she makes on the unit goes back to what's best for the patient.
She sets the best example for nursing. Numbers do not lie. The turn around for employees on our unit has decreased. Employees from other units have joined our team and in the past, that would have never happened. The rehab family appreciates what she has brought to the table. Something that was missing for years.
She is the missing puzzle piece to our unit. Not only for Rehab but also to DeKalb Medical. The heart she has is a heart of gold. Her willingness to help and educate her staff makes a great leader.
