One of our Veterans came by my office at about 1615. She was told that she could get her TB test done in the WPCC today. She let them know that she might be late as it takes two hours for her to drive from school to the VA. She got out of school after 1300 and thought she would have plenty of time. She did not realize the clinic closed at 1600. The traffic was bad, and she did not get up to the clinic until 1615. Of course, this was the day that everyone in the WPCC had left on time for the day. I went to the PC clinic where I asked if there was a nurse here that could assist us. They immediately went and found Wendy Rose, RN. She was fabulous! There was an order in CPRS for the PPD and she said she would get on it and make sure she was taken care of. The Veteran received her PPD and Wendy made the Veteran feel as if she was not a bother and cheerfully took care of her. She apologized to the Veteran for the wait, which was not long at all. I wanted to share with you how Wendy went above and beyond to get the appropriate care to this woman Veteran. I feel proud to work for the VA especially when we have staff who are attentive and caring.
