Whitney Rogers made it her mission to make sure that our patient was made comfortable and the family was kept informed. Once the decision was made for comfort care, Whitney made sure that this father's 3 young girls, ages 8, 10, and 12, had something to remember him by. She purchased 3 thumb prints necklace and made an index finger print. She made sure we had each child's initials and took it to the jeweler's personally to make sure they were received.
I helped Whitney to make 5 hand prints, which the wife was going to have framed for them. We cut locks of his hair and placed in a small bag for the wife to have. The wife was so impressed that we had taken the time to show them so much kindness during their grief. The whole family was overwhelmed that we allowed the children to visit several times during his stay. Whitney always made time to answer questions and let the family express their needs. She never seemed rushed or frustrated when dealing with the family.
