Ms. Wu Yu Ling has been a nurse for almost 20 years and has worked at Min-Sheng General Hospital for 14 years. While at Min-Sheng, she became an Advance Practice Surgical Nurse; she has been practicing as such for 13 years. She is particularly interested in wound management, and has become a certified wound specialist taking care of the most complex wounds.
Throughout her career, she has been an excellent role model to the staff. Because she is such a dedicated and caring nurse, patients and families always compliment her for her work, and they appreciate the extra attention she gives, and her concerns for them. She understands the importance of putting patient first, and of emphasizing psychosocial support and education of the patient’s relatives for an effective continuum of care at home.
At Min-Sheng General Hospital she has regularly received acclaim from management and her peers. She was voted Best Employee in 2002, Best Nurse in 2003, and Best Advance Practice Nurse in 2012. She is also very ingenious in projects for continuous quality improvement and received an award in 2011 for Improved Methods in Wound care Protocol and Techniques. She is currently completing a master’s in healthcare management, and is always willing to share with, and teach other nursing staff.
Ms. Wu is always pleasant, courteous and considerate towards everyone and her patients in particular. She provides encouragement to the patients and their family in difficult times, and gives them realistic hopes. Patients never forget her kindness, and many return to the hospital to visit and thank her. Seeing patients recover and appreciate her efforts mean the world to Ms. Wu. Making a difference and doing meaningful work are the reasons why she chose a career in nursing.
