The National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities (NOND) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was founded by five nurses with disabilities in 2003 and incorporated in the State of Illinois. NOND is an open membership, cross-disability, professional organization that works to promote equity for people with disabilities and chronic health conditions in nursing through education and advocacy. NOND accomplishes its work in a variety of ways for example, confronting national policy that could harm people with disabilities and chronic health conditions, influencing systemic change to promote acceptance and provide education within nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education and at the workplace. NOND works to ensure nursing students and nurses with disabilities receive the accommodations they need while in school and at work. NOND believes that qualified nurses with disabilities should be included at the table when nursing and disability is discussed which follows NOND's theme, Nothing About US Without Us! NOND is the Voice of Disability in Nursing.
