Every day is a new adventure but at the end of the day, we make it through the shift because every person is smart, caring, strong, and compassionate and tries their best to make the patients stay the best possible.
The Team on 12E goes above & beyond for their patients every day. Through staff leaving, patients with COVID, staff with COVID, short staffing, and COVID policies changing on a daily basis, the staff takes it in stride and does what is best for their patients. When there are holes in the schedule, they pick up whole shifts, partial shifts, or even stay a little just to help pass meds so the next team starts off well. They think not of their own shifts but of their coworkers and how they can make the next shift better for the patients on the unit. One night a nurse said, "Can I stay for a while and help the next shift? They looked so defeated when they left, and I want to make sure they have a good night". That fills our cup and makes us proud they are a member of the Team. When the unit started to get more COVID patients, they took them on in stride. We made tables to organize the supplies and discovered the equipment that we were short on, and where to allocate the available equipment. We made sure that no one was overwhelmed. The number of times we hear the words "What do you need me to do?" shows that we are always looking out for each other. We have many new staff members who know nothing but the world of COVID, but each one is thriving and shining! Every day is a new adventure but at the end of the day, we make it through the shift because every person is smart, caring, strong, and compassionate and tries their best to make the patients stay the best possible. There is no problem that they cannot work together to fix. During rounds and discharge calls, we often hear; that the staff are "Angels" "Amazing" and " So great I cannot choose just one" Thank you all for being you!
