Ever since I was in your pavilion with my mother, we had a month or so in the 3 Pavilion West, we lived there, I say we lived because I felt that in those moments they were with me, supporting me when mom left me several times, I saw her the day she left me and was brought back, I saw how you were with me in that moment of despair and I saw how Julie Romano acted like you told me and you hugged me you told me I wish I understood everything you wanted to tell me at this moment I saw how your tenderness and support was with me while mom was inside with all the Doctors and nurses between life and death. Thank you for being there in those moments of desperation since I was alone. There you were full of grace for every day. You went room by room to each patient together with the nurses to explain to us what was going on each day. Thank you for worrying about whether I ate or not and giving me a card so I could go to the cafeteria or other places in the hospital. I sometimes told you that I was all set, and you gave it to me anyway and told me to use it, go to the cafeteria and eat something. Every day, day by day, you did it while I was in your Pavilion 3 West. One day you told me, here we are a family. Mom loved calling you her the little doll. We are still at Hackensack Hospital in another pavilion, we are comfortable but it will never be like it was in that Pavillion 3 West.
Thank you to each one of you. At this moment, I do not have the names of each nurse at hand. I remember Alex and Maria because they always translated for me. Thank you and to la Bonita (The beautiful one), as mom called the nurse, who, despite many times mom not having her as a nurse, went to greet her and make her eat. There are so many of them and I am bad at remembering names. I have them written down, and I will return to them, but thank you to each of you, to each of the doctors who were part of so many blessings for the social worker, and to this great team. This great hospital, Hackensack Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center, and the staff it has, and to Julie Romano, BSN, RN, CMSRN NURSE Manager, we will always pray for each of you so that the Lord keeps guiding you. Many blessings. I still have my mother. Since the moment my mom was there, I saw Julie go early every day to visit each patient. I saw how she dedicated herself to going every day, room by room, mainly to Mom's room twice. Mom kind of left me, in those moments while I was crying, worried and with a lot of weakness, Julie and some nurses there accompanied me in my despair of seeing mommy leaving. One day, Julie told me how she would like to speak Spanish so that she could express everything she wanted to tell me. Her words at that moment gave me strength since I was alone. At that moment, I felt like she and each of her nurses joined in my pain and concern. She gave me a card every day so I could go eat something since every day I was there in the hospital with Mom; Mom is 79 years old, and she gave me the possibility of entry at any time and parking. Those are things that I will never forget. The nurses were very kind and affectionate; I felt like family in those days with each one of them. Julie always worried because they wanted to make sure that I had the card to eat, my eyes even filled with tears every time I saw the love and affection that she had when handed me the card. I told her that I was all set and she told me to take it, she told me on another time that we are like a family here for you, that's how Mom and I felt.
We are still in the hospital but not in your pavilion because we were moved. There, I feel very comfortable, but it will never be like in Pavilion 3 West. Sometimes I stop by to greet everyone, and when I enter, each and every one of the nurses look at me; they know me, and they ask me about Mom, even the cleaning lady. Each and every one of them is like a beautiful family headed by a humble, sweet, and loved Julie Romano. My mother, all my relatives, and I are very grateful for Hackensack Meridian Medical Center and the Doctors. Mom says that you kept her alive and that she has no way to pay you but just to pray to God that He may continue to strengthen each one of you for always giving your best with so much effort and dedication. Hackensanck is a hospital that I feel peaceful in despite the many stays there with Mom. I will always carry you in my mind, my heart, and my prayers, always. Each of you will have a place in our hearts. Thank you for telling me that if I need something, your Pavillon 3 West is my home. Thank you for your time and dedication and for always being with us when mom's oxygen ran out. Thank you very much, and many blessings to your hospital, the patients, and each of your family members.
