We are writing to give due recognition to members of your staff who provided exceptional services and demonstrated unparalleled concern for the well-being and comfort of J during his stay. My wife, K, and I were J’s primary visitors and bedside comforters during his last two weeks of life, EXCEPT for your wonderful NURSING STAFF.
His nurses, Barbara, Chula, Anna, Renee, Krista, Stephanie, Jenny May, Stacey, and Deana, were absolutely amazing as they administered medications, assisted in moving J to more comfortable positions, demonstrated sincere concern for his well-being and overall comfort. Not only did they show concern for J’s care, but they often asked if we needed anything to address our comfort and improve the quality of our time in the hospital.
Every one of these wonderful representatives of LAH deserves special recognition for their commitment to patient welfare. The last 5 days of J’s life, he did not outwardly acknowledge anyone. The nurses continued to talk with him, describing what they were doing when moving him to improve his comfort, administering pain control medications, cleaning his mouth and nasal passages, and addressing his overall well-being as best they could.
Every nurse would come by J’s room when leaving at the end of their work shifts. We have never experienced nurses continually demonstrating this level of attention, commitment to improving the quality of life for the patient, and genuine concern for a fellow human being, not just a patient.
We will tell everyone we know and have interactions with, that LAH is a wonderful medical facility with staff totally committed to care for their patients. I believe that we experienced the norm for treatment for every patient by these angels of care.
My friend J, when he was still coherent, made me promise to write a letter praising these exceptional people. Recognizing them in this letter has been my pleasure.
