I am writing to nominate Abby, my night nurse in the neuro ICU, for her outstanding care and compassion during my recent stay following a craniotomy. Abby not only provided exceptional medical care but went above and beyond in ways that truly made a difference in my recovery. Abby noticed that my hair was matted with iodine, and I was feeling uncomfortable and unable to wash it due to my sutures. Understanding my limitations, Abby took it upon herself to help me as best as she could. She gathered towels, detangler, a comb, and a shower cap, and with incredible patience and skill, she worked the mats out of my hair – all without disrupting my sutures. Her thoughtful approach not only addressed a practical need but also helped restore my dignity and comfort at a vulnerable time. Abby’s compassionate act went far beyond her duties and made me feel truly cared for, not just as a patient but as a person. Her kindness and dedication made an immense difference in how I felt during my recovery. I cannot thank her enough and believe she embodies the highest standards of nursing care.
