Giving birth to my first child was the best and worst experience of my life. The pain and anxiety were terrible, but I would do it a million times over for my son. Abbie was with me for the final 12 hours of a 24-hour delivery. She was calm, reassuring and attentive; ensuring I had everything I needed or wanted. She helped me manage my pain while coming to full dilation. During active labor, she was my best motivator, coach, and support system. Of all the nurses and doctors in my room, Abbie was the one providing the most strength, comfort, and guidance. Without her, I don't believe I could have birthed naturally. When the baby's heart rate dropped, the doctor gave me five minutes to get him out before an emergency C-section. Abbie was the one who helped me focus, breathe, and push, and get my child out. Without her, I don't think I could have done it. As NICU was called because my son's cord was wrapped around his neck twice, Abbie held my hand and comforted me. She was amazing and genuinely caring. In a perfect world, Abbie De Austria could be there for all my birthing experiences in the future. She is without a doubt, one of AMC's best assets!
