Dr. Hamlan is an excellent teacher and mentor. I have had her many times throughout my education career here at Madonna. She was an excellent clinical instructor making my first experience one I will never forget. She tested our knowledge, helped us learn along the way, and was always a helping hand if we needed it. She is more than amazing in regards to lecturing. She knows all of the material she teaches and takes her time to explain everything in detail to make sure we all understand it. She uses analogies and examples she thinks of on the spot to help us better understand the material. I have only heard amazing things about Dr. Hamlan and have only amazing things to share myself. Alongside being an amazing faculty member, she truly cares for her students, and she is not afraid to show it.
Dr. Hamlan is one of the most caring professors at Madonna. She truly wants to see you succeed and will be your biggest cheerleader every step of the way. She is everything I want to be as a nurse, and we are so lucky to have her! She is the best teacher and really cares about her students and the well being of her students. She always is there to help.
Dr. Hamlan goes out of her way every day for her students. She is so passionate about making us knowledgeable and successful nurses. She is so kind and has been my role model in nursing school.
It is impossible to describe just one story that highlights Dr. Hamlan and why she deserves the DAISY Award! She is consistently one of the best professors, mentors, and overall people I have ever met. Not only is she intelligent beyond words, but she genuinely cares for and believes in her students- and she is not afraid to let us know! For instance, the whole class was nervous before our cardiac and respiratory exam in Med/Surg 2. But, Dr. Hamlan told us, "no anxiety, believe in your potential." It's professors like that that make nursing school more bearable because as students, we feel loved, understood, and heard. Dr. Hamlan truly wants us to become the best nurses we can be and will do everything in her power to get us there. I am sad that Med/Surg is possibly the last class I have her for, but I am leaving her class knowing that she has prepared me well for a future in nursing.
There have been countless times when this professor has gone above and beyond for her students and for me personally. She is the best professor in the class and out in the field. She is one of the smartest and most caring people I have met. She plays student and patient advocate all the time and sets everyone up to be successful. For instance, last year, she saw me struggling heavily in pharmacology and took it upon herself to help me. We met during office hours, and she helped me one on one, and for the next couple of exams, I saw a 10-15% increase in my exam grades. She took time out of her day to help me personally, and I will always remember that and the impact she had. She is molding me into a fantastic nurse, and it’s thanks to her teaching. People should aspire to be like her in the field and classroom because she is a model nurse and professor. I am very thankful and blessed that I am able to learn from her. She is very much deserving of this award.
I have my second class with Dr. Hamlan, and she is my Med/Surg 2 clinical instructor. She puts in extra work for her students to ensure they are grasping and learning material, answers all questions, and is so understanding. My group's clinical experience is filled with many learning opportunities because of her, and we have a great time during clinical. She truly is a great instructor and is deserving of this award.
Dr. Hamlan always goes above and beyond for her students. She is the most understanding professor that creates such a positive learning environment. We all can tell that she wants us to succeed.
Dr. Hamlan fits all of the criteria for this award. She has gone above and beyond for each student to help them succeed in nursing school. I have never felt more supported and cared for as I do with Dr. Hamlan. She demonstrates her passion for teaching in each lecture while expanding our interest in topics in ways I could not have imagined. Dr. Hamlan treats all students equally and will do anything to help you genuinely understand the material and be able to apply it to any situation. She is by far the best professor I have had throughout college. She is approachable, and I am honored to have been one of her students. She is genuinely one of the most significant reasons for my success in nursing school. Dr. Hamlan is so special, and I want to thank her for shaping me into a more confident, knowledgeable, and compassionate nurse. She has truly changed the future of nurses.
Dr. Hamlan goes out of her way to make sure her students succeed. She makes study tools and holds review sessions which really makes the difference between learning and understanding. Additionally, Dr. Hamlan has such a large wealth of knowledge that I get excited to come to class every day. She demonstrates a caring and patient attitude, which provides an environment where students can learn and flourish.
This is my second semester having Dr. Hamlan as a professor in the nursing program, and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. She is incredibly gifted at teaching in ways that are easy for all her students to understand. She is always open to discussion, and most importantly to me is that she really seems like she wants all of her students to excel and is willing to go the extra mile to help that happen. I believe Dr. Hamlan deserves more than this award, but if anyone should get it, it's her!
Dr. Hamlan is caring, fair, and an outstanding professor. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed in her classes. She is resourceful and always there to help in a timely manner.

I can go to Dr. Hamlan and ask her anything. She welcomes the student and provides the best feedback to help in all situations.
I have had Dr. Hamlan for two courses thus far. In each course, she has come to class excited to teach and excited for us to learn. Every time I see Dr. Hamlan, I am inspired to work hard to succeed in nursing school. She is so evidently passionate about teaching her students correctly and genuinely wants to see them succeed. A specific moment I experienced with Dr. Hamlan was in the beginning weeks of term two during my first pharmacology exam; I prepared extremely well and knew the information like the back of my hand. Unfortunately, I had a technology error occur, and some of my answers did not save. Of course, this brought about some anxiety for me. While Dr. Hamlan was helping me with the situation, she assured me that it would be okay and that she would get this figured out. And she did. While other professors brushed the tech error off and placed the blame on me, Dr. Hamlan became comforting and a problem solver. This was a small moment when she showed kindness and empathy for me, and it was exactly what I needed at that time. I can’t think of a better person for this award.
Dr. Hamlan is hands down my favorite nursing professor at Madonna. Not only does she know the material inside and out, she has a passion for teaching and educating students. She is very responsive to emails and will meet with you at any time to further discuss a topic you might be struggling with or something that you need extra help with. She works so hard for us nursing students, and the program would not be the same without her!
