...During the last ice storm to hit Greenville, Agnes was en route to work when she was involved in a motor vehicle collision with an eighteen wheeler. Agnes's car was totaled in the collision. Agnes was not injured, but understandably a little shaken. Agnes called her husband, informed him of the accident, and stated her need for him to drive her on to work. Agnes came in and worked her complete shift. When asked why she completed her shift after having been involved in such a crash Agnes replied saying "I had patients depending on me for their care and I was not injured. Why then would I not work my shift and care for my patients?"

This demonstrates the tenacity, determination, compassion, professionalism, and ethics of one of Vidant Medical Center's finest nurses, Agnes Buckman.
