Alana's dedication to improving our profession is admirable, and she makes Southern nursing training programs stand out above the rest with one of the best retention rates.
Alana Bergeron has demonstrated a commitment to building up the next generation of nurses since she transferred into the Teacher role on 4East almost a decade ago. She has had an immeasurable impact on improving nursing education and developing and implementing the Residency program offered across the organization.

Alana thoroughly enjoys her profession as a nurse and is committed to teaching all of our staff to treat patients with dignity and respect. Alana leads by example in her team dynamics, adaptability and readiness to make changes that will improve patient care. She actively participates in policy writing, Epic training, and Quality improvement initiatives among numerous committees and subgroups. Alana is empathetic, attentive, and caring not only for every patient that she encounters but also for every new staff member that she meets. Alana recognizes the importance of showing up and giving staff emotional support, especially after an adverse event. She promotes discussions between leadership and staff when there is emotional distress and has facilitated debriefing amongst staff. With her guidance and support, many of the nurses across the organization have become the amazing nurses they are today.

Alana navigated the challenges of having the largest group of new grads that Southern has ever had, preparing content and coordinating the class space, teaching classes back-to-back for days, and coordinating fun activities while also supporting the teachers on the unit level with their needs. Yet, with the fullest agenda, Alana still finds the time to check in with the new nurses, the unit managers, and the rest of the team. Alana is an exemplary nurse educator; we are incredibly proud of her work. She plays an essential role in the success of our staff but hardly takes credit. Alana's dedication to improving our profession is admirable, and she makes Southern nursing training programs stand out above the rest with one of the best retention rates.
