I am honored to nominate Alexandra Bautista for a DAISY Award as she not only delivers exemplary care to all of her patients, but also inspires other nurses on our unit to do the same. Recently, Alexandra attended a delivery for a 26 weeker, and took that baby as a primary to help continue continuity of care. Over the past month, I have witnessed Alexandra spend countless hours in that baby's room to help the parents navigate the journey of having a premature baby. She not only educates the parents on the plan of care but also involves them by encouraging skin-to-skin every shift, promoting bonding with their baby. Alexandra's compassion has brought ease and comfort to this family during some of the hardest moments of their lives, as they have had to watch their baby undergo numerous intubations, blood transfusions, and other life-saving procedures. In addition to providing outstanding care, Alexandra creates a positive work culture environment. Without being asked, she ALWAYS steps in to help, teach, and encourage the newer nurses on our floor. Alexandra Bautista is the definition of a DAISY Nurse, and it's a privilege to work alongside her.
