Alice possesses a skill set that sets her apart as a leader among the nurses. Alice is sought after for guidance and counsel when encountering challenging client situations. Either during our formal multidisciplinary care planning conferences or informally in one of the clinician's offices, Alice provides thoughtful suggestions, eliciting feedback from the clinician to help formulate the best client centered care plan possible. Alice offers our Spanish speaking clients her bilingual and bicultural lens to meet the needs of the client and family.
To quote two of Alice's Spanish speaking clients' recent satisfaction surveys "Alice is very professional and kind. Always ready to help with all our questions" and "She (Alice) is kind and efficient person". One of her clients who is now 110 years old has been followed by Alice for 10 years. Alice has worked closely with the client's granddaughter. She has helped her navigate the acute care system when the client has been hospitalized and each time reviews goals of care. Alice supports the client's granddaughter by practicing compassionate listening and facilitating communication with medical team. Once again, the CARE model is demonstrated in Alice's care provided for this client and family, as she has offered guidance and support to the client and to the granddaughter, who is not yet ready to accept her grandmother's failing health.
