I am honored to nominate Alicia Johnson for the DAISY Award. Alicia has demonstrated exceptional skill and compassion in building a meaningful relationship with a particularly difficult patient.  

From the very beginning, Alicia approached this patient with unwavering patience and understanding.  Despite the patient’s initial resistance and challenging behavior, Alicia remained calm and composed, always treating the patient with the utmost respect and dignity.  Through consistent effort and genuine care, Alicia was able to break through the patient’s barriers and establish a trusting relationship.

Alicia’s ability to connect with the patient not only improved the patient's overall experience but also had a significant and positive impact on the patient’s needs and concerns.  Alicia was able to tailor the care plan to better suit the patient’s preferences, leading to increased compliance and cooperation.  

Moreover, Alicia consistently went above and beyond to ensure that the patient felt heard and valued.  Whether it was spending extra time at the bedside, offering a comforting presence, advocating for the patient's needs, or bringing the patient things she liked.  Alicia exemplified the true spirit of nursing.  

In a profession where building relationships is crucial to providing effective care, Alicia stands out as a shining example of what it means to be a compassionate and dedicated nurse.  Her exceptional ability to connect with and care for a difficult patient deserves recognition and celebration.

For these reasons, I wholeheartedly nominate Alicia for the DAISY Award and hope that someday I will be at least half the nurse Alicia is.
