Alison King, RN, went above and beyond her job duties to ensure her patient had all he needed when he was discharged home.

Alison provided care for a patient with extreme trust issues. Alison cared for him multiple shifts during his visit. The patient progressed from being non-verbal (a majority of the time) to openly communicating with nursing staff. The gentleman needed a skin graft and only after the gentle care and compassion shown to him from Alison, did he agree to his surgery. Upon discharge, the gentleman opened up to Alison that he could not afford any medications, not even the $4 ones from Walmart. Alison purchased his discharge medications from the outpatient pharmacy with her own money and did so without alerting the patient because she did not want him to feel badly about it.

This is just one example of how Alison goes above and beyond for her patients and their families every day.
