With this person, there is a commitment to excellence that gave us both so much confidence in knowing he was in good hands.
This person is incredibly deserving of this DAISY Award for multiple reasons. First, when we first arrived, they were very welcoming and friendly. They were kind, patient, and calm. They weren’t rattled at all that the admission was right at shift change. They were very clear in speaking and explained everything quite well so that even my husband, who just had a stroke, could understand what was happening and what to expect. In addition, one could just sense this person’s professionalism and that they are devoted to giving 100% to their patients and career. With this person, there is a commitment to excellence that gave us both so much confidence in knowing he was in good hands.
One thing that stood out to us was that I was frightened about another stroke occurring during the night, but this person was so reassuring that he was under their care, so I didn’t have to worry about caring for him myself. They said they would be watching the monitors and taking good care of him during the night so that I could rest. Then, during the night, they kept their word and came in on time just as they said they would, and I felt so comfortable knowing he was under their care.
Lastly, this person is wonderful, very calming and reassuring. This allows patients and families to trust that we truly are in the best hospital and getting the best care that we can get. Toledo Hospital is lucky to have this person as an employee, and we are so grateful to have had them as a nurse because they made a difference in how I approached this ‘new idea’ of my husband having a stroke. This person more than deserves this DAISY Award for their extraordinary service and their devotion to the nursing profession. Thank you!
