Allyson was the nurse we had following back surgery. Our family member was struggling to get comfortable and Allyson went above and beyond to make her comfortable, she even went to another unit to get her better ice packs and didn't stop until she was comfortable.
She worked with us to make the surgery recovery as good as it could have possibly been. She took the time with her as "a person" not "just a patient". She explained everything before she did it and let her explain what she wanted. She listened and showed so much patience and compassion.
Allyson provided top quality care and never gave up exploring options of care until the patient was comfortable. She respected her wishes and included us in the care. She checked on us throughout the night, always greeting us with kindness. She reached out for help when needed to ensure the best care possible at all times from giving meds on time to wiping her tears away. She was there for it all.
She provided exceptional service at all times. As a current nursing student, I can only hope to provide as much compassion, comfort, and kindness to my patients, as Allyson has for my family. She provided patient and family-centered care. She advocated for us. She remained patient with us when we were emotional. We can never thank her enough for the care she provided for my family.
