When my father was admitted, he was very unresponsive. He could not open his eyes, speak, or move. He was in this state for several days while physicians studied his condition to determine how to treat him. I want to recognize the 8th floor staff who went above and beyond in caring for him, trying to entice him to eat, keep him clean, talk to him, encourage him, and be kind to him. They made me feel comfortable and confident that he was being looked after in his vulnerable condition.
