This past Friday, my wife and I celebrated the birth of our third child at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and I feel compelled to write to you about our experience. We were surprised on Friday to find out that we were in need of a C-Section due to our baby's large size and my wife's increasing blood pressure. Your team, as it had been for the birth of our other two children, was brilliant and performed their jobs in the most amazing way.
We wish to single out one person that my wife and I both feel made a true difference in our three night stay at the hospital. I would like to formally acknowledge and thank Alyson Bergeron, who I feel made the difference between a good experience and a wonderful one. I believe that she went above and beyond making my wife and newborn son feel comfortable and cared for.
When my wife was commenting to me about how she was having trouble getting comfortable, Alyson was in the room and quickly put together a "hug me" pillow that she used to make for patients who were having trouble moving in their bed because of the incisions after surgery. After our first exhausting night of constant 1-hour monitoring of my wife, Alyson came up with a plan of monitoring our son at strategic points during the night so that we were able to sleep and rest up for our return home. I remember my wife telling me how happy she was when we found out we were going to have Alyson for the second night of our stay. She had such a wonderful talent of balancing a clinical demeanor with a warm and caring one.
These are only a couple of examples of how the little things that Alyson did made a huge impact on us. She had such an easy, non-threatening, happy manner about her. In a word, she was perfect at her job. We have told so many family and friends about her and how she really made a difference in our stay. I have no doubt that she will have an amazing career. I believe she can make anyone's stay a better one if she is their nurse. Alyson Bergeron should be commended for her excellent care, thoughtful ideas, genuine demeanor, and professional expertise.
