Alyson precepts new and experienced nurses, and those who have worked with her are well-integrated into the unit socially and clinically. They are all very happy when they start working on their own. So, she really does impact nurse retention for the unit. She is also an exemplary Charge Nurse. She is very attentive to each staff member but is also able to round on patients and be hands-on to help patients have the best stay possible. She is especially compassionate. She treats every person with the same kindness and respect and is very patient and calm no matter the situation. New nurses want to be like her, and experienced nurses are reminded to stay positive and focused on excellent patient care when they are around her.
