She was professional and compassionate at the same time. Alyssa made us and our baby her priority. I gained a friend during the most painful time of my life.
My husband and I were at the Dublin Hospital delivering our baby at only 25 weeks. We heard the devastating news two days prior that our baby no longer had a heartbeat. Birth and death are not supposed to happen at the same time. But this was our situation now. The nurses and doctors at Dublin Hospital provided exceptional care and love for me and my husband. All of them are hands down the best people in the world. Alyssa was one of the exceptional nurses on that day.
Alyssa was beyond compassionate and caring to us during the worst time of our lives. Alyssa's number one priority that day was to help us in any way possible, which is an impossible task given the circumstances, but she exceeded it. Alyssa showed unwavering empathy towards us. She guided us through what to expect at each step since delivering a baby that has died is not something you prepare yourself for during your pregnancy. She was professional and compassionate at the same time. Alyssa made us and our baby her priority. I gained a friend during the most painful time of my life. Her strength, compassion, and love helped us deliver our baby safely and into loving arms. Alyssa's shift ended at 3 pm but she stayed past 3 pm to help me deliver my baby and to meet our baby.
I am forever grateful that she willingly and selflessly chose to stay with us and meet our baby. Alyssa is truly the best and her family is so lucky to call her mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. I will never forget Alyssa and all of the amazing nurses who comforted us during those awful few days in August. As Alyssa reminded me, there will be a rainbow at the end of our storm. I hope and pray that comes soon.
