What made Amanda so extraordinary wasn’t just her clinical expertise—it was the way she treated me with such genuine warmth and empathy.
You have wonderful staff throughout the hospital from the ED to PICU. I am a mother of 3 little girls, and I have had a couple of hospital visits in the past, but this last one with my youngest, 6-month-old V, has been the scariest. One nurse stood out from the rest, Amanda Cordo in PICU. Amanda Cordo deserves the DAISY Award because she wasn’t just a nurse to my daughter, V; she became a true advocate, a compassionate caregiver, and a steady source of support for me. V, only six months old, was battling RSV and struggling to keep her oxygen levels stable, a terrifying experience for any mother. From the moment we met, Amanda took ownership of V’s care with a determination that went far beyond the role of a nurse. She treated my baby like her own, pouring her heart into every action and working diligently to keep V comfortable and safe. What made Amanda so extraordinary wasn’t just her clinical expertise—it was the way she treated me with such genuine warmth and empathy. She was always there to listen, easy to talk to, and made sure I felt supported. Amanda’s presence felt like a lifeline; she saw my fears and shared my hopes. We had the same goal: to get V stable, comfortable, ultimately discharged and back home. And Amanda fought for that with unwavering commitment. Her leadership, her compassion, and her sense of partnership were exactly what we needed in that difficult time. She gave us both comfort and confidence when we needed it most. Amanda is more than deserving of the DAISY Award; she is an exceptional nurse and a beautiful soul who truly made a difference in our lives.
