Amanda is always advocating for her patients and going above and beyond in her patient care. One scenario really stuck out to me. We had a case to do late one evening on a very combative, confused, and agitated patient. Before the patient was brought into the operating room and anesthetized, Amanda was able to develop a rapport with the patient and keep him calm while the anesthesiologist started a new line. The patient was noted to be extremely dirty.
Unfortunately, his behavior made it difficult for him to receive assistance with hygiene and he was brought to the hospital in this state. Amanda made sure to clean the patient from head-to-toe, literally scrubbing in between his toes! She also managed to have his bed completely changed before leaving the O.R., post-procedure. This patient will never know the amount of effort Amanda put in to providing him with the best care she knew how. That is exactly what working in the hospital is all about!
