An extraordinary nurse is being honored as Baptist Hospital Cocke County’s first recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Baptist Hospital Cocke County is presenting the award in collaboration with The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and the DAISY Foundation to recognize the extraordinary efforts nurses perform everyday.
The first DAISY Award recipient is Amanda Everette, RN. Amanda has been with Baptist Hospital Cocke County (BHCC) for more than 5 years and works in CCU. Amanda has repeatedly been recognized by her patients and their families for fulfilling Mercy’s core values of excellence and compassion.
Amanda’s nominator wrote: I would like to nominate Amanda Everette from the CCU department as a deserving recipient of The DAISY Award. Amanda’s clinical skills and her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model.
She consistently meets all of the following criteria:
* Kind and sincere care * Team player * Positive attitude * * Passionate about nursing
During a recent patient’s surgery, Amanda was very compassionate and had a way of easing the family’s worries. She would have them smiling or laughing before she left the room. Amanda never leaves a mess for the oncoming nurse. She also loves to braid hair and fix up ladies hair stating, “That makes them feel good about themselves.” Amanda always has a smile for everyone and is there to cheer you up when you’re having a bad day. She is not only compassionate to patients and their families, but to staff members as well. She’s been a blessing to me and this department, and I’m sure the whole hospital.
