Amanda is someone who takes her time with her patients, pushes them to do the best they can, and helps them smile and laugh along the way.
Amanda Fontaine is a nurse who I cannot say enough about. Throughout her time spent on 2N, her caring and uplifting demeanor has been nothing short of wonderful. Amanda is someone who takes her time with her patients, pushes them to do the best they can, and helps them smile and laugh along the way. Hearing her engage with her patients is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face. Two recent scenarios that come to mind were seeing how close she became with one of our patients who was leaving us to go to hospice. The patient told me how fond she was of Amanda and what an incredible nurse she is. On the day of her discharge, the patient gave Amanda the biggest hug, and the two shared some tears. This validates the connection they shared.
Another situation that comes to mind is Amanda routing on her patient, who is only 22 years old, while she was relearning how to walk with physical therapy. While recording these wonderful milestones on the patient’s phone for her, she stood graciously with a big smile on her face. If my family member ever had to come to RIH, Amanda is someone I would hope to be their nurse.
Amanda, thank you for all that you do!
