Amanda made the communication between the different specialty medical teams cohesive and consistent while taking steady, calm care of my mom before and during the transfer.
Amanda was one of the nurses for my mother on Deskovick 4 multiple times during her 3 admissions, which ultimately resulted in my mother being in Hospice care on Deskovick 4. During one, very scary, morning my mom had to be transferred to a higher level of care. Amanda made the communication between the different specialty medical teams cohesive and consistent while taking steady, calm care of my mom before and during the transfer. She called all of the members of my mother's care team to her bedside, had all of her lab work and information ready to go, and all information seamlessly shared with the care team to make a swift move to the surgical ICU with ease.
My mother was a part of the decision to transition to Hospice care, and when we spoke with the palliative care team, being able to stay on Deskovick 4 with the nurses she trusted (including Amanda) was important to my mom. Amanda, somehow, made our family feel like my mom was her only patient, and was never rushing, and made a very scary, uncertain, and emotional time, a bit better.
My father always felt comfortable leaving my mom's bedside when Amanda was nearby. When you are in the throes of losing the most important person in your life, that is the biggest compliment and action you could witness. She shared all information with our family and educated us all along the way, so we understood what medications were being given, why, what the lab results were and what they meant and made us feel like an integral part of my mom's healthcare team. We are blessed to have had my mom cared for by Amanda and the nurses on Deskovick 4.
