"Amanda took the time out of her busy day and positioned herself next to a patient to explain the newly prescribed blood thinner for a patient and the reasons for the blood draws. She explained until the lab values come back at a level where these need to be we may have to change the dosage of his medication. This patient has some learning and retention deficits. Amanda was very calm and gentle in her approach and used the AIDET principles to help speak with this patient and reinforce the reasons for the blood draws and changes to the blood thinner. Amanda set a great example of someone taking time out of her day to put the needs of the patient first, which is our primary value. Amanda contributed greatly to the positive patient care experience at Mayo Clinic and is a role model for her peers to emulate."
